It's hard to think of basketball on a day like today. When tragedy strikes like it did today in Connecticut, it reminds us all that nothing really matters but family and friends. All of us here send our thoughts and prayers out to the families in Newtown.
We had 11 games in the NBA tonight:
Game 1:
LA Lakers-102
Washington Wizards-96
It took the LA Lakers facing one of the worst teams in the NBA (Andrea Bargnani thinks it's his own team, the Raptors, but many think the Wiz) to snap there losing streak. Kobe again paced the Lakers with 30 points, 7 boards and 7 assists, but was only 9 of 29 from the field. Jodie Meeks also scored 24 while Dwight Howard had a double-double. The Wizards had great work from the bench, as they attempted to keep them in the game scoring 58 of the teams 96.
Game 2:
Philadelphia 76ers-85
Indiana Pacers-95
Roy Hibbert finally broke out of his offensive funk, having his best game of the season dropping 19 points and 13 boards. George Hill has a triple double (15, 10, and 10) while Paul George scored a season high 28 points. Evan Turner continued his strong play of late scoring 22 and adding 10 boards.
Game 3:
GS Warriors-85
Orlando Magic-99
6 players scored in double digits for the magic as the as they dominated the Warriors in a laugher. David Lee had 24 and 15 continuing his strong play for the Warriors. Not much to say here as this was a blowout.
Game 4:
Detroit Pistons-105

Joe Johnson made a fade-away long two pointer as the buzzer sounded at the end of the second overtime to send the Nets home with the W. A key play in the game however was made by Gerald Wallace who tipped the ball in during the Nets final possession in regulation to force OT. Joe Johnson had 28 while Gerald Wallace had 25 points and 10 boards.
Game 5:
Milwaukee Bucks-90
Cleveland Cavs-86
Monta Ellis out-dueled Kyrie Irving, scoring 33 points in this one. Irving scored 26, but committed 6 of 24 turnovers by the Cavs. Ball Security was the difference in this one as the Bucks registered 16 steals, although only registered 9 fast break points. The Bucks improved to 12-9 on the season.
Game 6:
Minnesota Timberwolves-113
New Orleans Hornets-102
One game away from getting back Ricky Rubio, the Twolves put together a great team effort to hold off the Hornets. All 5 Twolves Starters scored in double figures, led by Nicola Pekovic's 31 points (14-18 from the field). For the Hornets, Austin Rivers had his best game as a pro scoring 27 points on 9 of 14 shooting including 5 of 6 from downtown. The Hornets actually played a pretty decent game, but were outmatched by the interior scoring of Wolves frontline as they amassed an incredible 70 points in the paint!!! 70!
Game 7:
Boston Celtics-89
Houston Rockets-101
The Rockets dominated this one from start to finish as Chandler Parsons was incredibly active in both ends of the court. He scored 15 points, grabbed 9 boards, and dished out 8 dimes. Off the bench Greg Smith added 20 points on 8 of 9 shooting as he showed off a deadly mid range jumper. The C's looked bad overall mixing a sluggish start with a sloppy finish. The real story in this game was the emotional, tearful embrace shared by Kevin Garnett and Rockets coach Kevin McHale, who drafted Garnett as GM of the Timberwolves in 1995. McHale who lost his daughter after a battle with Lupus recently also had an emotional embrace with Doc Rivers and many other Celtic players.
Game 8:
Sacramento Kings-103
OKC Thunder-113
The Thunder won their tenth straight game behind he efforts of Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka. Durant had 31 points on 10 of 14 shooting. Serge Ibaka added 18 and 11 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook chipped in 13 and 13 assists. Isiah Thomas led the Kings with 26. Durant wrote "Newtown,. CT" on both of his shoes in support of the victims in today's tragedy.
Game 9:
Utah Jazz-84
Phoenix Suns-99
After the Jazz made a buzzer beater for a victory last night, they unexpedatedly came out flat tonight. The Suns ran out to a 12 point first quarter lead and never looked back. Jared Dudley paced the Suns with 22.
Game 10:
Dallas Mavericks-74
Toronto Raptors-95
Andrea Bargnani called his team the worst in the NBA to an Italian newspaper, but they didn't play like it tonight. The Mavs, exhausted after last nights' double OT thriller in Boston couldn't muster the energy to compete with the Raptors. The Raptors led by 13 at halftime and never let the Mavs back into it. Linas Kleiza led all Raptors with 20.
Game 11:
Memphis Grizzlies-95
Denver Nuggets-99
The Nuggets had a great 4th quarter and continued there excellent work on defense forcing the Griz to only 41% from the field. 4 players in double digits were led by Andre Iguodala with 20 for the Nuggets. The Griz have now lost 3 in a row.
