We had 10 NBA games tonight. here's a quick recap of each:
Game 1:
Atlanta Hawks-100
Washington Wizards-95
OT
The Hawks beat the Wizards in OT behind big games from Josh Smith and Lou Williams. Smith had 17 points, 13 boards and 5 blocks while Williams dropped 24. For the Wiz, Jordan Crawford had a triple double notching a game high 27 points to go along with 11 assists and 11 rebounds. Crawford continues to make strides and is looking more like the elite talent the Wiz were hoping for.
Game 2:
Toronto Raptors-113
Cleveland Cavs-99
6 Raptors were in double digits led by Jose Calderon's 23 as the team took control of this game in the 4th. Both teams shot the ball well, but Toronto proved to be more effective shooting 3's (12-24). In a strange stat, the Raptors had zeo face break points. Kyrie Irving led the Cavs with 23.
Game 3:
Utah Jazz-92
Brooklyn Nets-90
Utah dominated the boards (48-38) and overcame a 13 point halftime deficit to stun the Nets at home. Once again, Deron Williams had a sub-par game, registering just 14 points and 5 assists. The Nets did have open looks at the end of the game, but Gerald Wallace missed a 3 and Reggie Evans an 6 footer and Utah escaped with the W. I am still perplexed by the lack of quality play by Deron Williams, this team will go nowhere without him playing better.
Game 4:
Minnesota Timberwolves-92
Miami Heat-103
The Twolves just couldn't keep up with the pace that the Heat played at on Tuesday as they surrendered 24 fast break points. the big three carried the Heat per usual, combining for 61 points, 16 assists (11 by Lebron), and 8 blocks. The Twolves turned the ball over 19 times compared to just 8 by the Heat.
Game 5:
Celtics-89
Bulls-100
The front line of the Bulls absolutely dominated this one as Joakim Noah had a triple double (11,10,13) and Carlos Boozer had 21 points to go along with 12 boards. Rajon Rondo did all he could scoring 26, but the Celtics defense failed them behind poor efforts from Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger.
Game 6:
Indiana Pacers-93
Milwaukee Bucks-98
This game was dominated by Brandon Jennings as he had 34 points on 13 of 22 shooting. Larry Sanders also continued his excellent defense so far this year registering 5 blocks. The Pacers never got much going and committed 20 turnovers.
Game 7:
Philadelphia 76ers-100
Dallas Mavericks-107
OJ Mayo continued his torrid place so far this year dropping an extremely efficient 26 on only 12 shots, making 8 of them. He was 8-9 from the line and also dropped 8 dimes. Dorell Wright gave the 76ers a chance scoring 25 points including 7 threes, but the Mavs came up big in the 4th quarter to secure their 12th win. Both these teams now have identical records at 12-13.
Game 8:
San Antonio Spurs-106
Denevr Nuggets-112
The Spurs have now lost 4 of the past 5 games. Danilo Gallinari scored 28 points, Kenneth Faried had 19 and 11, and the Nuggets had 58 team rebounds. Tim Duncan gave his team a valiant throw back effort, scoring 31 and ripping down 18 boards, but his effort wasn't enough. The Spurs are in a huge rut, while the Nuggets look to be playing with a bit more of the effort we saw from them last year.
Game 9:
Charlotte Bobcats-100
LA Lakers-101
Another exciting finish, Gerald Henderson missed an easy lefty layup as time was running out and the Lakers escaped with a win. Kobe scored 30, grabbed 6 boards and dished out 7 assists to lead the Lakers. This was Pau Gasol's return to action and he scored 10 points and took down 9 boards. Dwight Howard a team high 18 boards, including 9 offensive. Kemba Walker led the Bobcats with 28.
Game 10:
New Orleans Hornets-96
Golden State Warriors-103
The home team was the aggressor in this game, going to the line 34 times, twice as many as the Hornets and dominated the glass. David Lee continued his stellar play, scoring 26, while Jarrett Jack was enormous off the bench with 16 points and 10 dimes. Anthony Davis looked like a star, being extremely active on both ends, finishing with 15 points, 16 boards, 4 steals, and one very loud block. This Golden State team should be taken seriously by all opponents, they have scorers all over the court.
